EDD launches the 2009 Jersey Enterprise Awards

The 2009 Enterprise Awards, to be launched on the 24th September, is billed as the biggest and most successful to date. The awards are designed to recognise the achievements of local businesses, excellence in management and the contribution individuals and organisations make to the island.

Now in their eighth year, the Awards would not be possible without the loyal support of long-standing sponsors 'Play.com, NatWest, Jersey Telecoms, Garenne Group, IndigoLighthouse, Guiton Group and Altis Partners.

For the 2009 awards, Altis Partners will be sponsoring the Medium Business Category and BPP Professional Education is supporting a new award ‘Manager of the Year’. Mindful of the ever-increasing interest in a greener agenda, a new environmental award has also been introduced sponsored by the Jersey Electricity Company.

New sponsor, Condor Ferries has taken up the reins in sponsoring the Community Award as the previous long-term sponsor Garenne Group is now providing sponsorship support for the key note speaker.

Senator Alan Maclean, Minister for Economic Development said:

“Jersey Enterprise Awards Gala Dinner is the main business event of the year and a great opportunity for Jersey to recognise the excellence of local businesses. Despite the global recession, however, I have seen innovation, reinvention and resilience to economic pressures which is testament to the entrepreneurial flair that flourishes in Jersey.

The support offered by both long standing and new sponsors plus the introduction of two new awards will make this year's event even more exciting and interesting’’.

Sean Pritchard from Jersey Enterprise said:

“Organisations, despite the economic climate, are already preparing submissions. The introduction of two new categories, plus the emergence of new sponsors, will boost the level of interest so we are anticipating a record number of entries.’’

The glittering gala night at which the awards will be presented is planned for 26th February 2010 and will be staged once again in the Queens Hal,l Fort Regent. Guests on the night will be able to enjoy a pre-dinner aperitif thanks to the generosity of Rothschild.

The Jersey Enterprise Awards 2009 will be officially launched on the 24th September and applications are invited from that date. The business support team at Jersey Enterprise are available to advise on which category to enter and to help companies with their entry. Details at www.jerseyawards.com
